September Philanthropy Dialogue
September 16, 2020, 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM @ Zoom meeting

We are pleased to offer the first Dialogue in a series themed “Creating a New Future.” Join Executive Directors Samuel Acevedo, Boston HERC and Bonnie Bertolaet, Science Club for Girls for a discussion about “The Digital Divide.” During the evening, we will address the topic of the existing educational gap and how it has widened during the pandemic, among other inequities in today’s schools.

The Dignity Matters NOW Virtual Auction will be open from September 17-24.
Registration is free and DM’s community has donated more than 50 amazing items to bid on. The goal is to raise $20,000 with all proceeds directed to help women manage their periods with dignity so they can attend school, go to work, and live healthy lives.

TPC Grantee Dignity Matters distributes free menstrual care, underwear, and bras to 8,000 women in Massachusetts every month, including 4,000 women receiving emergency period protection during the COVID-19 crisis. DM partners with 160 homeless shelters, emergency centers, food pantries, schools, and medical clinics to reach women and girls in need. DM’s unique manufacturing contract allows them us buy period protection at a 50% discount, so TPC funds help twice as many women and girls.

October Philanthropy Dialogue

October 06, 2020, 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM @ Zoom meeting

Join us for a panel discussion featuring Rosann Bongiovanni, ED of TPC grantee GreenRoots, and David Meshoulam, ED of Speak for the Trees. We will learn how these two local nonprofits are addressing and responding to adverse environmental effects in communities of color, and how environmental justice is linked to both racial and social justice issues.

Book Club: The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

October 28, 2020, 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM @ Zoom meeting

Join us for an evening of discussion centered on Brit Bennett’s book The Vanishing Half. Ms. Bennett, the New York Times bestselling author of The Mothers, has written a stunning new novel about twin sisters, inseparable as children, who ultimately choose to live in two very different worlds – one black and one white.

This member-only event, facilitated by TPC’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee members, will provide a space to unpack many intersecting identities including race, gender, class, and more.
