Executive Directors from our three TPC grantees will delve into their community impacts, exchange stories from the field, and hopefully find synergies across their work. Come with your questions. TPC friends and guests are welcome.
Participating Grantee Organizations
Boston Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA): Trains volunteer advocates for children entering the juvenile court system due to abuse or neglect. Boston CASA collaborates with everyone in the child’s life to help ensure their physical, emotional, mental and educational well-being, with the goal of permanent home placement or successful transition to independent adulthood.
Student Clinic for Immigrant Justice: Trains students to assist immigrants in navigating the immigration process, assisting experienced immigration attorneys working on asylum cases, substantially reducing the 90% denial rate of immigration cases without legal representation.
Jane Doe Inc.: JDI brings together a coalition of 60+ support organizations to maximize advocacy in addressing sexual and domestic violence. This includes government agencies, hotlines, emergency and transitional housing, legal and medical organizations, counseling and education programs, children’s programming, and economic empowerment initiatives.
Speakers
Jonathan Goldman, Executive Director of the Student Clinic for Immigrant Justice: Born in Denmark and raised in the US, Jonathan's outlook on immigration has been shaped by this foundational part of his identity. He previously co-founded The Right to Immigration Institute (TRII) and was one of the youngest elected members of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee. Jonathan has over 5 years of experience in community and advocacy organizing with multiple campaigns across Massachusetts on the local, state, and federal levels.
Hema Sarang-Sieminski, Executive Director of Jane Doe Inc.: Prior to joining JDI, Sarang-Sieminski was a Senior Attorney at the Victim Rights Law Center, providing local and national training to enhance access to civil legal services for sexual assault survivors, as well as direct legal representation to immigrant and LGBTQ survivor communities. She has worked in various capacities with survivors of sexual abuse and violence for well over 20 years.
Nicole Stewart, Executive Director, Boston CASA (to be confirmed): With more than 25 years of combined experience in school administration and executive leadership in nonprofits, Nicole has dedicated her career to positively impacting the lives of vulnerable children, families, and communities. Prior to leading Boston CASA, she served as Exec. Director of the Berkshire Partners Blue Hill Boys & Girls Club of Boston; Program Director for Bridge Home Starr Program; Turnaround CEO for Homes for Families; and Founder of the nonprofit, Possibilities Here, Inc.
