What does it take to remove the barriers that stand between people and opportunity? Join us for a conversation with three current TPC grantees tackling this question in very different ways. Second Chance Cars provides access to reliable transportation. Merrimack Valley Immigrant and Education Center connects immigrants to education, resources, and community support. Citizens for Juvenile Justice advocates for reforms to the juvenile justice system so that it can more equitably serve young people.

Hear directly from these nonprofit leaders about the barriers they see in their work, how their organizations are responding, and what they’ve learned from the communities they serve. Come away with a broader perspective on how philanthropy can translate into action: opening doors, building community bridges, and creating lasting change.

What does it mean to be an advocate for people whose voices can be overlooked? Hear directly from three current TPC grantees working in areas where having a knowledgeable and committed advocate can make a critical difference.

Boston CASA trains volunteers to advocate for children involved in the foster care system. Mabel Center for Immigrant Justice provides legal representation to asylum seekers and immigrant families. Student Clinic for Immigrant Justice trains college students to become advocates while expanding access to immigration legal services. Through their experiences, explore the many ways advocates can show up, serve as trusted partners, guide options, and amplify voices. Discover how the presence of an advocate can shift not only a person’s experience within a system, but what becomes possible for them within it.

What does it really take to create opportunity? For individuals and families facing economic hardship and systemic barriers, opportunity often depends on having the right resources, support, and stability at critical moments in their lives.

Hear from three current TPC grantees approaching this challenge in different ways. Family Health Project provides direct cash support to new mothers living in poverty. MissionSAFE works alongside young people and their families to build foundational skills and career pathways. Project Kompass provides transitional housing and support for young mothers working toward greater stability and independence. Learn how our collective philanthropy can turn into meaningful opportunities for people to move forward on their own terms.
