Join us for our December Philanthropy Dialogue
We are delighted to host featured speakers Linda Zimmerman, Executive Director of Neighbors in Need, and Yesenia Gil, Executive Director of Bread & Roses Housing for a discussion about “The Systemic Struggle for Food and Housing.” This Dialogue will help us learn how and why these basic human rights continue to be a struggle for families today, and gain understanding of some of the reasons for this persistent, age-old problem.
In 1948, the United Nations General Assembly created the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that proclaimed that food and housing were fundamental human rights to be universally protected. Despite this globally accepted doctrine, Americans have struggled in both of these areas. Residents of gateway cities such as Lawrence have been no stranger to food and housing insecurities. Our two grantees, both located in Lawrence, will engage in a conversation about their common challenges and (creative) solutions to provide these basic human needs.
